Who We Are

The Fredericktown Church of Christ is rooted in the belief that, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16). The Church here is a community of believers who seek to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. We are a group of individuals united in our faith and commitment to live out the principles of the Gospel teachings. Our emphasis is on the simple and pure teachings of Jesus, without the addition of man-made traditions or doctrines. We strive to love one another, serve our communities, and share the good news of salvation with others. As the Church of Christ, we seek to live out our faith in a way that is both faithful to Scripture and relevant to our modern world.

What to expect:

Singing:

Here at the Fredericktown Church of Christ, you will find that we do not use instrumental music. Paul tells the Christians in Ephesus that they were to be, “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,” (Ephesians 5:19). The command is given to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. “Making Melody,” refers to an instrument being played. The instrument that Paul refers to is the heart. Being that there is no biblical authority to add to the word of God, we believe that we are to sing using our hearts as the instrument.

Lord’s Supper:

During the worship service on Sunday’s, we take time apart each week to remember Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The command is given in scripture to, “do this in remembrance of Me,” (Luke 22:19). The example is given in Acts 20:7 to partake in this remembrance on the first day of every week. This ceremony is a solemn remembrance to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross so that all who obey Him may have hope in eternal life in Heaven.

Teachings:

Each week you can expect to hear lessons preached from the Bible with the desire of spreading God’s word accurately and effectively. We firmly believe and actively teach that in order to be saved one must:

Hear the word (Romans 10:17; John 8:32)

Believe the word (Hebrews 11:6)

Repent of your sins (Luke 13:3)

Confess your faith (Romans 10:10)

Be Baptized (Mark 16:16)

Live Faithfully (Revelation 2:10)
